However, Women TechEU, a new initiative launched by the European Union, is aiming to change this by providing funding and support for women-led tech startups. As Mair says, “Access to funding is critical for the success of any startup, and women-led startups often face additional challenges in securing funding. The impact of Women TechEU is already being felt in the tech industry. The first call for applications, which opened in March 2021, received more than 1,500 applications from women-led tech startups across Europe. The initiative is expected to fund around 50 startups each year, with a focus on sectors such as healthcare, energy, and the environment.
